In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Fourth Wall.”
You get to spend a day inside your favorite movie. Tell us which one it is — and what happens to you while you’re there.
I’ve watched so many movies that it is very hard to choose which story line I would like to be apart of. Right now I am thinking of “The Count Of Monte Cristo” a story about a wrongly accused man suffering the inevitable defeat of a wealthy friend who has not only deceived him, but his lady friend as well. Leaving Edmond Dantes to do the only thing that any man in this situation would do. He cooks up a batch of tasty revenge against all those that has conspired against him.
Yes revenge, and for the spoiler alert it all ends well. The interesting part is what character should I play, what impactful moment would I like to be apart of. I would say his enlightenment. When Edmond is taken away to rot in a prison, he comes across an older fellow who happens to dig his way into the cell upon planning his escape. He was at the prison for eleven years, and appears when Edmond loses hope, his faith, and possibly his will. This older fellow who Edmond refers to as priest, offered him Knowledge for exchange for aid in escape (they were digging a tunnel yall).
I would definitely be priest. He became a teacher and an inspiration. He continued to show his knowledge, his faith and immoveable commitment to escape (given his age) and had the ability to unlock the power of awareness for Edmond while in the process. A teacher at best, inspiring and not afraid to unlock the caged mind, let it do what it does best plan for the revenge of a lifetime. Unfortunately he was an older fellow and would not make it to his escape. Priest suffered injuries to his lungs as the tunnel they were digging collapsed, before he passed he informed Edmond of a treasure that can change his future,(the lost treasure of sparta) and made him swear to use it for good, of course Edmond indicated that he was going to use it surely for his revenge.
The old priest passed away but not before he taught and inspired, a blazing glory of hope, and with that new found jewel Edmond indeed found his way to escape, discover the riches that would forever change the outcome of this brilliant story. If you haven’t seen the movie, please feel free to view the attached clip, however I must say that the book is even better and as always provides a different twist than the film.
